- The paper was common for BM and
PMIR aspirants (unlike in the last three years where
BM and PMIR papers were different).
- The paper consisted of 200 questions
in three sections.
- As usual, separate time limits were
given for each section.
- After the two-hour objective type
paper was over, there was an essay to be written as
in the past.

Analysis
of XLRI 2001 paper
A lot of beaming faces and high-pitched
squeals and shrieks! That is what one found outside
XLRI Entrance Exam centres across the country.
The reason: The difficulty level of
XLRI 2001 Entrance Exam paper (or the lack of it!)
Yes, this years XLRI paper was refreshingly
simple. It was simple when compared with XLRIs own papers
for the last couple of years. Students who prepared
for XLRI exam on the basis of what was given in the
last 2/3 years papers could not believe what they saw
in this years paper. More importantly, people who got
battered on 10th December were ready for
yet another buffeting. And man! Were they in for a pleasant
surprise!
But,
hold on!
An easy paper does not ensure
an interview call not by any stretch of imagination!
This is a very common mistake that students make. You
should keep in mind that when the paper is easy, everybody
will do well in the paper and consequently, your relative
position will probably not change. It will certainly
not change much.
Before we look at a detailed analysis
of each section, let us first look at the paper as a
whole and how it is similar to or different from the
papers of the last 3-4 years.
For the past three years, XLRI entrance
exam was giving separate papers for students who applied
of BM and PMIR. This year, as expected, there was a
common paper for both BM and PMIR. There were three
sections with a total of 200 questions. Like in the
past years, there was separate time limit given for
each section in the paper.
Again, like in the last four years,
there was an essay to be written after the objective
type paper was over. The students had to write a one-page
essay on the topic that was given. The topic this time
was Economic growth without distributive justice will
lead to violence.
