SPJIMR is known as an institute with a difference. It has been a pioneer in several innovative approaches for facilitating learning processes of the students. These include:

1. Development of Corporate Citizenship (DOCC): A project under which students at the end of the 1st year are required to undergo a 6 weeks project with an NGO or a corporate in its social venture. The objective of this exercise is to sensitize the students with realities of India as well as help them applying the managerial theories / principles in an unstructured situation.

2. Autumn Project: A project under which the students during the middle of the 2nd year undertake a real-life project with a corporate for 8 weeks to get an exposure to realities of corporate world.

3. Course on Assessment & Development of Managerial Potential (ADMAP): A non-classroom approach to develop & strengthen the values & attributes of the students as well as to facilitate their administrative ability.

4. Group Learning: An innovative approach that encourages peer learning process.

5. Geeta Shibir: A structured visit to an Ashram near Baroda primarily aimed at facilitating the issues relating to the self-management.

6. Provision of PC at each hostel room with uninterrupted internet access.

7. First B-school to start the concept known as "Higher than Entry Placement (HEP) Program" for participants with prior work experience.

8. Involvement of students in all institutional activities
