IMT Ghaziabad Changes Policy &
Allows Multiple Offers to Meet Corporate Demand in Campus
Placements
2005 January was re-lived at IMT Ghaziabad
campus on 10th of January 2006, when there was a repeat
show of 100% placement in a span of few hours. Entire
batch of 173 students in PGDBM, MHRM and MIB got placed
on the Day One of Placements 2006. On the Day One, it
took few hours to place 117 students of PGDBM and 28
students of MHRM. IMT Ghaziabad launched a new course
of ‘Masters in International Business’ in
2004. The first graduating batch was welcomed by Industry
in the form of recruiting them all in a span of few
hours.
In total, 91 companies showed interest
in recruiting from IMT this year. However, only 56 companies
could hire IMT students, and another 35 of them had
to return empty-handed, since the students had already
accepted offers from other companies.
"We nurture one of the best talent
pools in this country, and we are sure, our friends
from Corporate will come back next year to hire in even
larger numbers," said Prof. Nilanjan Chattopadhyay,
Chairman-Placements of IMT Ghaziabad.
IMT follows a policy of 'One student-one
offer'. However, looking at the demand from corporate,
for the first time this year, multiple offers were allowed
for the lateral candidates. 15 offers were made for
6 lateral candidates, making it to 2.5 offers per candidate,
who opted for multiple offers.
For the PGDBM batch, the Maximum Indian
Salary offered was Rs. 9.25 lakhs p.a. by Genpact and
the Minimum Salary was at Rs. 3 lakhs p.a. This year
the average compensation touched Rs. 7.35 lakhs p.a.,
including four International offers given by Olam International
of $85,000 each. This was a jump of over 15% on the
last year average compensation package.
The Human Resource batch saw an average
salary of Rs. 5.4 lakhs p.a. with the maximum package
of Rs. 7.83 lakhs p.a.
It was roaring success for the first
batch of International Business students, with the average
compensation package at Rs. 5.03 lakhs p.a.
Apart from the regular recruiters like
Becton Dickinson, Bharti Televenture, Citibank, Dabur,
GE, Henkel India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Olam International,
Radio Mirchi, Reebok, Satyam Computers, Seagram, Wipro
Technologies to name a few, IMT Ghaziabad this year,
saw a series of big brands coming for the first time,
or after a long gap. These were like Axis Risk Consulting,
Cognizant Technologies, Dr. Reddy's Lab., Ernst &
Young, ICI Paints, Indian Oil Corporation, JP Morgan,
Maruti Udyog, MindTree Consulting, Nestle, Perot Systems, Reckitt Benckiser, SAB Miller.
This year the North, South and West
zones of India gave almost equal number of job offers,
re-establishing the national reputation that IMT Ghaziabad
enjoys among recruiters.
